World of Warcraft: the biggest Armory mishap (ever?)

Ah-hah! Don’t say we didn’t tell you so! Even at the announcement of the Armory, everyone knew it was a matter of time before someone would find a nasty use for it, and a single hot thread in the World of Warcraft Forums scored a bulls-eye on the perfect misuse of the Warcraft Armory: find the worst player in World of Warcraft.

While they’re mostly (and definitely) elite players who have decided to scan for characters who have, in their opinion, the worst stats and builds ever, they certainly aren’t the professional cut of gamers at any length. It’s a sad thing that’s happening to the casual players of WoW who couldn’t care less about playing seriously, but as Blizzard has said before, there is no opting out of the Armory.

And here’s the worst part of it: now it’s got green-clad casual gamers duking it out with level 70 purple-clads and male gamers who play female avatars flaming against “male-all-the-way” male gamers. One feature that was supposed to serve a positive purpose in the community is now a potential force to topple it all to dust.

What has the World (of Warcraft) come to?
