WoW debate: Are Priests required to resurrect dead players?

WoW debate: Are Priests required to resurrect dead players? - Image 1This has been an on-going problem in World of Warcraft or any other MMORPG for that matter that involves raiding. As we all know, every member of a team is important for each raid to be successful. That is why you have tank, damage, and healing specialists.

However, what happens if one doesn’t perform his or her function? Over at the official WoW Europe Forums, players are talking about a specific event that transpired just recently (however, we believe this has happened a lot in the past and even now as we speak).

Reportedly, one Priest refused to resurrect the members of the team because the other two were too lazy to do a corpse run from the graveyard and reclaim their bodies. The two argue that the Priest should just resurrect them and go on with the raid.

But the priest said that he is there to enjoy the game as well and not just look after dead players. The debate went on and on until the group eventually disbanded and no raid was ever completed. What do you think about this guys?

Of course, there’s no rule saying that Priest SHOULD resurrect dead people. However, we have to keep in mind that they are there for a reason. Blizzard forum moderator picked up the debate and shared some thoughts on it:

Generally, I would expect players to run, if they give a reason why they don’t then that’s fine, but otherwise I usually make them listen to my lecture on why running saves everyone time before I resurrect them.

I have never gone so far as to leave the group, or refuse to resurrect people outright because of it though. I’m not going to let a lazy player or two spoil that for me.
