WoW gets statistics page, Big Booty FTW

Big booty! From the most looted items, to the most repeated quests, and even to the most dangerous NPCs, Blizzard‘s finally given us a way to track those little numbers across all the game worlds. A new feature on the World of Warcraft website serves as an amusing diversion and a vital resource at the same time.

Their new Game Statistics page takes a daily inventory of the goings on across all the servers and compiles the information, offering players a chance at seeing different sorts of reference information. For instance, you can check out the Big Booty page to see what item is looted the most often from enemies. They also have lists for the items auctioned off, gathered, and created the most.

While it’s rather comprehensive, it does have some kinks to work out. For one thing, it seems logical that the top spots for the most completed quests would go the starting quests for the most popular in-game faction and race (Human Alliance beginner quests), so stats reflecting that seem to be redundant right now. Since the servers are probably populated with many newcomers and low-leveled questers, statistics for looted, gathered, and created items are skewed towards low-leveled items as well. They ought to implement a function to segregate the stats by searching for level-specific statistics.

For now though, there are some funny things to note as well, and some insights to grab if you’re feeling scientific. Shellfish is the 7th most gathered item in the game, though its uses are very limited. The place where you often grab shellfish, however is the only reliable place for fishermen to find the Fishing pole that adds 20 to your fishing skill, so that might be something to consider when looking for items to auction.

Of course, if you’re like us here at QJ, you’ll be laughing at the fact that Defias Pillagers kill more people daily than bosses, and ranks fifth alongside Onyxia, Vaelastrasz the Corrupt, and Drek’Thar. Pillagers for the win, indeed.
