WoW guide: The Hand of Ragnaros, Sulfuras

Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros - Image 1 The Hand of Ragnaros was the undisputed best DPS weapon in Azeroth, or at least until the World of Warcraft patch 1.6 and Blackwing Lair (read: Thunderfury). Even after the release of the Burning Crusade, it is still up there as one of the best two handed weapons around. So how do you get it?

First off, you’ll need to forge (or have a blacksmith with 300 skill to forge for you) a Sulfuron Hammer. Players can get the plans off Lokhtos Darkbargainer at Blackrock Depths at a cost of one Sulfuron Ingot which drops from Golemagg in Molten Core. You’ll then require these for the forging:

  • 8x Sulfuron Ingots
  • 20x Dark Iron Bars (or 160 dark iron ores)
  • 50x Arcanite Bars (requires one arcane crystal and one thorium – and possibly a friendly alchemist)
  • 25x Essence of Fire (drops from fire elementals or can be transmuted by an alchemist)
  • 10x Blood of the Mountain
  •  (from Thorium veins)
  • 10x Lava Core
  • 10x Fiery Core

Now that you’ve got the Sulfuron Hammer, you’ll need one last thing to turn it into Surfuras. The Eye of Sulfuras. It drops off the big boss of Molten Core, Ragnaros himself at an approximate drop rate of 3% and is BoP (binds on pickup). There you have it folks. Happy hunting!
