WoW hybridization: Warlocks way too dominant?

WoW hybridization: Warlocks way too dominant? - Image 1

A recent thread created by Wetdreams of Shattered Hand named the Warlock as the most versatile and useful of classes for World of Warcraft PvP matchups. It clearly reflects in some numbers for the 2 vs 2, 3 vs 3 and even World PvP one on ones, but fails miserably when tagging along with 5 vs 5 bouts in the Arena.

There’s a lot warlocks are capable of doing that can counter the effects that enemies may inflict on the class. And as the only class with the best damage over time and direct damage, insane stamina bonuses, pets that not only can tank but can provide buffs for the owner, combinations of spells casted at half the casting time and stack to equate to certain mage spells, life tap that provides an endless source of mana, HP sources from talents, items and dual duty spells…the list is just endless.

The Warlock class may be the captivating epitome of Blizzard‘s efforts to hybridize the usual RPG classes, but it eventually raises third-party opinions on their class balancing efforts all the same. And even while 5 vs. 5 has the Warlock listed at the bottom of the most effective classes, only a really good strategy is needed to turn the tide to its favor. That time could be up pretty soon.

Is the Warlock way too dominant for PvP? Because if it is, then Blizzard might dust off that nerf bat for another swing. You can almost be pretty sure of it, as community manager Kalgan’s comment “orly…” has the Warlocks wary of a class update pretty soon.
