WoW: Pre-60 characters roaming around the Outland

Shattrath city is found in the Outland - Image 1Prior to the release of The Burning Crusade, the character level cap for World of Warcraft was pegged at 60. As we all know, the new limit is now at level 70. Blizzard Entertainment placed a restriction so that low-level characters couldn’t pass through the Dark Portal. They must not go to the Outland as long as they are not worthy, or so players say.

However, don’t be surprised though if you happen to meet pre-60 characters wandering around Netherstorm or Shadowmoon Valley as there is a perfectly legal workaround for this: the Warlock’s Ritual of Summoning allows for calling another member to the Warlock’s location with the help of two other party members.

This means that if a Warlock is in the Outland, it is possible for that Warlock to bring over any character there as well regardless of that character’s level. Blizzard’s Drysc explains,

Although the Dark Portal has a level restriction we don’t have any policy or problem with players under level 58 being summoned to Outland. The level restriction on the portal was mainly to prevent a launch day rush where a bunch of lower level players may just want to look around.

Apparently, this was overlooked by most players as Blizzard is not so keen on putting a big, wide banner above this feature. But we’re telling you, it’s possible. We’re currently in Shattrath City. Would you like us to summon you?
