WoW Rogues: CloS overtuned?
The topic of future patch updates? Over at the World of Warcraft official forums, Batozai started up a thread to lodge a complaint regarding the rogue class’ Cloak of Shadows (CloS) skill. In the game description, CloS is a Rogue talent that enables rogues of lvl 66 and above “to remove any spell debuffs on them and become extremely resistant (90% resistance) to all spells for 5 seconds.”
Getting back to our subject matter, Batozai’s complaint was that CloS needed to be retuned, as this gave rogues – the WoW DPS (Damage Per Second) specialist – an unbalanced advantage against soft-skinned magic caster classes (warlocks, mages, priests). As Batozai commented:
Seriously. Who the hell decided to give this as a baseline ability to the highest single target DPS in the game? WTF were you retards smoking? As if Chain stunning wasn’t enough, these bastards can completely NEGATE the magical dmg being done to them AND ALSO practically become immune to it for a period of time long enough for them to simply kill you. Who the hell though this up?
While several of the posters agreed that Batozai’s point was valid – that CloS was overtuned – the thread readers also warned the thread starter that his grievance wasn’t a good reason to rant on the boards. Other more elaborate responses agreed that CloS needed a longer cooldown time, and perhaps a longer usage duration. As Berilyon stated:
Rogues are caster killers, one of our baseline abilities is removed(vanish) when we get a single dot on us and we have no way to cleanse it.
4 sec immunity out of 1 min, thats 56 seconds we are not immune to magical damage, and you are a pally, a HUMAN pally at that, you still have melee damage(maybe not much, but still) and there is also perception
Time will tell whether Blizzard does decide to revamp this skill in the long run – don’t wait up for it, though.
