Wrath of the Lich King provides a look into the mind of Arthas

Wrath of the Lich King provides a look into the mind of Arthas - Image 1A few players have begun looking into the motives behind Arthas’ actions since the announcement of his presence in the latest expansion of World of Warcraft. Is the Death Knight simply mad, or does he have a master plan?

While this argument has been bounced around a few times in the forums, it’s always interesting to see how people view the actions of this character.

It appears that there is indeed a greater purpose to every move that Arthas makes. It is true that he may be considered insane, but the Lich King has merged with him, thus tempering the insanity and guiding it to further the Scourge’s goals.

Blizzard Poster/ Community Manager Nethaera gave a few facts about Arthas and his motives, citing Chris Metzen’s (Vice President of Creative Development at Blizzard and responsible for most of the plot and storylines of the game) ideas on the topic:

Chris Metzen mentioned that we don’t know if Arthas is quite mad or if he has a plan. It seems he’s getting a certain kind of joy out of making people do things they don’t necessarily want to be doing and twisting their good intentions much like what happened to him.

We’ll get to see much deeper into his psyche when we do the quests in Northrend however and not much more has been revealed about what sorts of things you may be asked to do while questing.

It looks like Wrath of the Lich King will be worth the price of admission for those interested in the lore of Warcraft if it indeed provides a glimpse into the mind of Arthas. The mere idea of this sends shivers down the spines of the QJ.Net WoW team. What twisted things will we encounter as we quest along the icy regions of Northrend?
