Wright Flight v0.1.7

Wright FlightWe here at the QJ quarters honestly have nothing but admiration and respect for all the coders of homebrew games out there. Especially the hardworking ones that just..won’t…stop until their work is perfected.

That said, I think my co-bloggers will agree with me when I say that included in that list is the Koopa Troopers team, who’s always hard at work on bringing us a better version of their flight combat game, Wright Flight.

And now, the team is back with yet another bumped up and improved version of the game, v0.1.7. Here’s the changelog for Wright Flight v0.1.7:

  • Updated libcartreset to v0.72.
  • Removed -ansi from the server makefile’s gcc options.
  • Made turbo boost a little slower.
  • Halved the damage the planes take from colliding with each other.
  • The network I/O is now also handled in the plane selection screen. Before it wasn’t and would lead to a timeout.
  • All planes have white base color. Before each player would have its own base color, but most colors just didn’t work well.
  • Made the gravity 25% stronger.
  • If the player changes the plane while connected to the server (but no game is on), the plane selection is sent to the server automatically.
  • The online status of the other players is also shown on the play menu screen.
  • Added sparkle and dark smoke particles.
  • When a plane is low on energy, it’ll start emitting dark smoke and sparkles.
  • The weapons do now 33% less damage than before.
  • Compressed network update packets.

If you’re a Wright Flight neophyte (hey, that rhymes! Hahaha!) and you’re feeling a bit lost here, we suggest you check out the previous game version here, or you could check out the readme file for a more detailed discussion of the game. Have fun!
