Xbox 360 Ad Concepts From Gamers

Jump In adMost probably inspired by the good reception of the Jump In ad (check it out here), which also won Best of Show in this year’s ADDY Awards, Microsoft asked gamers to pitch in their own ideas for an Xbox 360 advertisement. Although this was done mainly for fun and the ideas will most unfortunately not be realized, it was still fun browsing through the bright ides gamers had to project Microsoft’s next-gen console. Here are some of my faves:

  • KjellShocked (Shirley , NY)

Although undoubtedly a ripoff of Visa’s popular ‘Priceless’ ads, KjellShocked’s idea still made me laugh. Priceless indeed:

Xbox 360 PremiumÂ…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â… $399.00
High-speed Internet connectionÂ…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â… $29.99
Pwning your boss on Xbox LiveÂ…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Â…Priceless

  • Izod the Great (Somers, CT)

Imagine two teenage guys hanging out at a local pond, they seem very bored and they have nothing to do. One of them hears a noise and walks up to the edge of the pond and looks out at the water. He hears the noise again and decides to throw a pebble into the water. When he throws the pebble into the water, the ripples form the green circles of the Xbox 360 logo. He throws more rocks and his friend joins him, and eventually the whole pond is covered in Xbox 360 ripples and it dramatically says ‘Jump In’. Also, if that’s not enough, I had also thought it would work if when they throw the rocks, many other gamers come out of the trees surrounding the pond and they begin to throw rocks as well. Or, when the two boys throw pebbles, they see the faces of gamers in the pond with headsets on.

Camera slowly zooms in on a gorgeous single family home in a quaint, quiet neighborhood as the stars twinkle over a beautifully moon-lit summer sky. The camera captures a young man, around age 30, stepping out on to his front porch with a cellular phone at his ear. As the camera zooms in close to him, you hear the happy chirping of crickets along with the young man’s telephone conversation.

Young Man: (Excitedly) Well, Ma, I finally did it. I purchased my very first home!
Mom: Son, I’m so proud of you! It’s like I’ve always said, all of that hard work and studying would one day pay off.
Young Man: You were right, Ma. What more could I ask for? I can’t wait to have everyone over to check the place out.
Mom: Oh Joey, I can’t wait either. Tell me what you need. I need to get you a nice house warming gift!
Young Man : Don’t worry about it, Ma, I’ve got everything I need. See ya real soon. Love ya!
Mom: Take care son. I love you too!

Camera cuts to a close up of the young man smiling as he hangs up the phone, stretches and takes a long look at the warm night sky and enters his home. He closes the door as the camera pans a completely empty room, void of furniture, pictures or anything else. The camera zooms in on a 42″ plasma TV hanging on the wall, displaying Kameo riding on a horse. The camera pans back to Joey as he sits down on the floor, reaching for his Xbox 360 controller with a huge grin on his face. Picture fades out displaying Xbox 360 Logo and, “Jump In!”
