Xbox 360 GAMER: first 10 out of 10 rating goes to Guitar Hero II
360 GAMER, a UK magazine, will give out its first ever perfect “10 out of 10” rating to the Harmonix–Activision music sim Guitar Hero II. In the past 23 issues (the magazine was launched October 2005), 360 GAMER has given out a small number of “9 out of 10” ratings to a few games like The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fight Night Round 3, so when a game finally gets 360 GAMER’s Platinum award, it’s something worth looking at.
The Guitar Hero II review is five pages long and is written by game critic Luke Albiges (the press release said that “he ‘performed’ the original game at a special busking session in Leicester Square Underground station”). Stu Taylor, Group Editor at Uncooked Media said:
When we launched, we agreed that no game was ever likely to score a 10 so early on in the Xbox 360Â’s life – it takes a good year or two for developers to realise the potential of any console. However, as Luke Albiges says in his review: “Guitar Hero II is a supremely empowering example of why we started playing games in the first place.”
According to a press release from Uncooked Media Ltd. (the UK-based publisher of 360 GAMER), Issue #24 of 360 GAMER also has an exclusive cover feature and hands-on playtest of THQ‘s Frontlines: Fuels of War (a game being hailed as a “Ghost Recon beater”). There’s also a review of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls IV: Shivering Isles, plus independent and unbiased reviews of Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, NBA Street Homecourt 2007, Championship Manager 2007, and more.
