Xbox 360 mod: HDMI and Digital Optical sound in Premium

Gamer Chad Ledford believes that there are many like him who purchased the Xbox 360 Premium instead of the Elite because of financial constraints.

However, Ledford argues over at his personal website that this shouldn’t prevent Premium owners from having HDMI and Digital Optical surround sound experience.

First and foremost, you have to take note that you cannot have both the HDMI and AV component cables plugged in at the same time.

The reason for this is that because the slots are so close to one another, not to mention the fact that the component cables are rather thick. Chad Ledford proposes this simple trick:

• First, purchase an HDMI cable for less than US$ 10
• Second, remove the plastic casing from the standard A/V cable. I did this by wedging a knife between the slit in the plastic casing and separating the two sides.
• Simple solution – cheap fix.
