Xbox 360 On Your Cell Phone?

Even though you can’t fit an Xbox 360 into your phone, you’ll soon be able to use your phone to see when when your friends are playing online. Microsoft is planning on integrating MSN messenger into mobile phones as part of bringing together its various online services together.

The plan is to use a cell phone mobile alert to notify you when a friend is online, much like the current “pop ups” used in the Xbox Live dashboard on the Xbox 360.

Of course, Messenger is already included as part of a compact version of Windows for mobile phones. The problem for Microsoft is that not many smartphones and PDAs use Windows Mobile as the operating system; the most popular software is Symbian.

The mobile alerts are part of Micrsoft’s new Windows Live initiative, that aims to provide a one stop shop that brings together a range of services, such as email, search and other elements.
