Xbox 360 Software Update Coming?
Is there an Xbox 360 software upgrade in the works? Microsoft hints at yes.
In an online interview, Microsoft spokesman Scott Henson said that the company is considering several improvements to the Xbox 360 software. Henson, director of MicrosoftÂ’s Game Technology Group, wouldn’t name specifics, but claimed the improvements will probably be based on customer responses to the new system. So far, the top user requests include upgrading the music player and support for streaming movie and music playback from all PCs, not just those running MicrosoftÂ’s Windows Media Center.
Another gripe would be solved if the Xbox Live Marketplace is reconfigured so it can run in the background while the gamer is playing games. He also said HD-DVD support will be through an optional external drive in the future, and there are no plans to release games on the HD-DVD format. ItÂ’s going to be for movies only, at least in the foreseeable future.
