The website Tech News World has reported that Microsoft has developed technology to allow its Xbox 360 console to connect with the handheld systems of its two biggest rivals in gaming, Sony and Nintendo. The technology would allow users of the PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS to connect with the Xbox 360 and then play Microsoft’s games online.
Tech News World cites Microsoft sources, however Microsoft has not yet confirmed nor denied the reports.
It is said that Microsoft has developed this technology in order to overcome the weakness of not having a handheld system like Sony and Nintendo. The connectivity of the Xbox 360 with handhelds from rivals would not be the first such move by Microsoft with regard to the Xbox 360. Microsoft is currently considering making the Xbox 360 compatible with the iPod digital music player from long-time rival Apple.
