Xbox.com Lists October 2 As Gears of War Release Date

While Microsoft has not publicly announced a release date for the third-person tactical squad-based shooter Gears of War, the US Xbox product page has listed an October 2 launch date. I’d normally treat this as an official announcement, albeit a quiet one. But then again, this is the same Xbox product page that listed a hard drive requirement for Ninety Nine Nights – which turned out to be a misprint on their site.
 
Well, October couldn’t come fast enough, but the painful part is that Epic Games and Microsoft have a full three months to bombard us with even more game previews and trailers as part of its Gears of War marketing blitz. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind the massive dose of pre-launch marketing salvo, but some folks over at Microsoft tend to overdo it.
