Xbox Live Arcade: higher file size cap equals higher prices? NUH-UH!
Huh? Microsoft replied to GamesRadar’s speculation that higher file sizes for future Xbox Live Arcade games would mean higher prices, and the answer was along the lines of “No – er, make that HECK, NO.” In fact, it was Microsoft Casual Games manager Bryan Trussel himself who made the rebuttal:
There are currently no plans to offer Xbox Live Arcade games for more than 1,200 points. My comments were meant to imply that a larger game may lead to a price that is at the high end of the current pricing range, not eclipse that range as suggested in the reporting.
Well, we can’t blame GamesRadar if they must be feeling confused right now. After all, it was Trussel himself who made the “correlation of pricing” comment that sparked the entire speculation in the first place. So what’s clear is that no game sold under the XBLA lineup will be sold past 1,200 MS points.
Even at 150MB of size? We have to see how the developers will react to this cap.
