Xbox Live’s Free Videos

RedvblueI’ve noticed something kinda cool and interesting since the launch of the new and improved Xbox Live. If you browse over to the Xbox Live screen and look about two thirds of the way down the screen you’ll see this rectangular box that seems to have a rotation of free downloadable content in it.

Prior to the official launch of the 360 that spot just had an image of the Xbox Live logo, but shortly after midnight that changed to an image from a music video (I can’t remember which one, I blame endless hours of Gun). Tuesday afternoon I noticed that the image changed to one showing Red vs Blue. When I clicked on it, it brought up a download screen that let me grab an episode of the famous Halo-based machinima for free.

It looks like Microsoft is using the space to show off some of the free content in Marketplace, I just hope it remains free and doesn’t turn into a place to spotlight game ads.
