Xbox retail future in trouble?

In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, Vice President Adam Roberts said “Xbox probably needs help at the moment.” Robert feels that retailers are wanting to clear off some shelf space and that the original Xbox will become target number one. He also feels that Microsoft should focus on releasing fewer, but high quality titles. In Adams words “It’s not just the responsibility of the retailer…It’s a partnership between the publisher and the retailer, not anyone of those in isolation.”  However, he did say it would ultimately be a retailer decision. If retailers lose confidence in a product because they are not selling than it’s up to the publisher to build up that confidence by making changes.
