Xbox takes the night out, Xbox Night in Japan
Microsoft‘s attempt to take a share in Japan‘s gaming market doesn’t stop at Trusty Bell‘s (aka Eternal Sonata) success. As if riding the game’s momentum for getting on top of software sales lists, MS held a party at Yakult Swallows Jingu Stadium.
Four thousand baseball fans were given Xbox 360 pamphlets and umbrellas as they entered the stadium. Teams Yakult Swallows and Seibu Lions were also lucky enough to get Trusty Bell bundles. Former big leaguer Kasuhisa Ishii received a 360 with Blue Dragon, Gears of War, The Idolmaster, and other games with it. A lucky fan also took home a console and a Swallows t-shirt.
What’s a Japanese Xbox 360 event without the warmly received Trusty Bell? It sure got its share of fame – an ad of it was featured on the JumboTron. Microsoft Japan CEO Darren Houston was also there wearing a 360 jersey, and even threw the first pitch.
Looks like Microsoft won’t hold anything back to win the hearts of Japanese gamers. They’d go as far as taking over a baseball match. Let’s wait and see if their elaborate marketing campaign comes into fruition.
