Xecuter Connectivity Kit v2 and Never Open Case Again to Flash Your Drive
Some of you might have heard the news (it was announced August 22), but a number of you haven’t. So we’re taking the time to share two things from Team Xecuter.
First, there’s this: you never have to open up your Xbox 360 case again to flash your drive. According to Team Xecuter:
- This device (which still has no name as it’s still in the development stage, pic on the right) will enable you to switch to 360 mode for normal usage and PC mode for firmware updating. All with the 360 case intact and closed down – you never have to open it up again to flash your drive’s firmware.
- You open up your case to fit this just once. There are no cables or wires or anything hanging out of your Xbox. It’s simple install – no soldering whatsoever – takes 5 minutes.
- It works with all Xbox 360 DVD drives.
- The final product will have a custom-built case that connects to the exterior of the 360.
- Can be used with any SATA controller or the X360 USB adapter (for Hitachi only for now).
- There will be a Modeb switch. Three LED’s will indicate mode (XBOX360 / PC / MODEB).
- Note this: the picture shows a working dev unit. The final prototype should be ready by next week.
Next, there’s the Xecuter 360 Connectivity Kit v2. Here are the details:
- This will not yet be on general sale – but it will be bundled free with the X360 USB
- Has new Power On/Off for ease of hotswapping
- Has new PCB design eliminating risk of shorts
- Has new LED design
- Has new connectors to eliminate risk of cable damage
- Has all the standard Modeb / Eject features
- Team Xecutor will include the 360 HDD adapter for free
