X-Men: The Official Game Ships to Stores

Though everyone is talking about this week’s DS release of New Super Mario Brothers, how can we forget the other big release this week? X-Men: The Official Game hit stores Tuesday nationwide.

Activision, Marvel, and Twentieth Century Fox combined forces to provide an X-Men version for nearly every available video game platform. And they arrive just before the third and final installment of the X-Men movie trilogy X-Men: The Last Stand comes to theaters later this month.

In the game, play as Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman and use your mutant powers to wage war on super villains like Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike and save the world.

And in case you think playing the game version will be just like the movie, you are mistaken.

Actually, players in the game will experience the events leading up to the X-Men: The Last Stand movie. So it’s kind of a prequel, if you will.

The game is co-written by Zak Penn, the screenwriter of the third X-Men movie, and famous comic book writer Chris Claremont, and features the voice talent of Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Shawn Ashmore and Alan Cumming.
