XviD4PSP 4.048 RC4
Sony has always tried to sell PSP as a multimedia device, and to some extent, they were successful at it. But even they have to admit that independent homebrew developers are making this “sales pitch” more realistic. With all the nifty applications coded for the PSP, an owner well-versed with the languages of homebrew could now fully maximize the handheld’s capabilities – free.
Such is the path being followed by winnydows. Consistently looking for ways to boost the efficiency of his video encoding app for the PSP, XviD4PSP, he’s now releasing its 4.048 RC4 version. The video converter now comes packed with more features. Probably the most notable of the lot is the added audio decoder combobox, which gives you the option to play around with the video and audio decoder combos. Check out the complete list.
Changelog:
- Name of decoder DGMPGDec changed to more correct – MPEG2Source.
- Fully rewritten decoder logic.
- Removed AC3overDS option.
- Added Audio decoder combobox. Now possible combine different combination of video and audio decoders.
- Code cleanup.
Do bear in mind that XviD4PSP doesn’t only support the creation of high-quality AVC video for PSP firmware 3.03 OE-B, but it also supports a range of other video formats which you may use on your PSP, PC, or iPod. Using this app made for PC, you can convert anything to be PSP-compatible, whether its AVI video, DivX, WMV, or even RMVB files.
For installation, just download the executable file below (for Windows only), follow the instructions, and have it running on your PC. The GUI’s perfectly user friendly, so the chance of anybody messing it up is very low; yeah, even for beginners on homebrew.
Thanks to F34R for the tip!
