Ya wai: WoW’s Draenei Shamans and their flaming crusade

O rly? Ya rly! O rly? Ya rly! O snap... - Image 1Memes. Internet phenomena. Trends. No one seems to know exactly where or how they start. However, it never fails that someone would eventually spot one and bring it to everyone’s attention.

One of which is Korgoth from the WoW Forums who’s started an interesting thread with a subject of “Why are people “Flaming” new Draenei Shaman?

Good question. Indeed, why are people dissing the Draenei Shamans? It’s still one of the many main reasons why people would actually buy Burning Crusade.

Molyn replies with an example: “yeah its almost like saying..’OMG HOw ORIGINAL YOU WENT TO CHECK OUT OUTLAND ROFLMAOBBQ!!1onE!'” Well, true that. You’ve probably seen these kinds of replies all around chat circles in the Outland. But really, why the treatment?

Eyonix was able to sum it all up very neatly and we tend to agree on his point:

It boils down to the fact that some people, feel a disdain for anything seemingly “trendy”. This applies to any aspect in life. It’s ironic that often times, as a result an anti-trend is born, which in reality (as far as I’m concerned) is just a trend in itself because ultimately what you’re doing is following a system of beliefs or a group type, only for the sake of rebelling against what’s deemed an offensive trend.

O rly? Ya srsly. Anti-trends seem to attract the non-conformist groups. And yes, ironically, these non-conformists do tend to conform to their own set of beliefs. Sociology classes in Warcraft now, eh?

Anyways, if you’re a Draenei Shaman, don’t sweat it. All the verbal bashing won’t hurt you. If you’re curious though, there’s more of sociology lectures behind the “Read” link below. The rest of the thread awaits. Ya rly.
