It’s only been a while since we saw that video of Gran Turismo chief Kazumori Yamauchi talking about the possibility of deformation features in Gran Turismo 5 cars. In that interview, he mentioned that Polyphony Digital is still trying to convince car manufacturers to allow them to include the feature, and that they may be closing in on finalization. Today, the hopes of a lot of series fans have been fulfilled.

In an interview with IGN, Yamauchi announced that body damage on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue‘s cars is a go, and he said the feature will be incorporated into the game via a PSN update. The popular Japanese dev projected the update to go live by Fall this year.

Fans have long clamored for the deformation feature, while Gran Turismo series critics have been knocking the franchise for the lack of it. How its inclusion will affect the way we play will soon be seen. As for now, it’s not easy to contain our excitement to see it happen.
