Yay for freebies: Aegis Wing to hit XBLA Wednesday?
We here at QJ pride ourselves in being spendthrifts. It keeps all the cash from going to Downloadable Content“>downloadable content and into paying for pizzas.
That being said, we found ourselves quite surprised when we heard that there would be a free shooter called Aegis Wing coming to Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday, May 16, at 2:00 AM PDT. While the announcement seems to have disappeared and been replaced by the one for Soltrio Solitaire, it does give Xbox Live fanatics something to be hopeful for in the coming weeks.
So, what is Aegis Wing? According to the announcement, which Kotaku managed to save in time, Aegis Wing is “a 2-D side-scrolling space shooter that combines epic space combat with fantastic visuals, and is set to a rich symphonic soundtrack.” The game itself is set to have four different superweapons and six missions. More importantly, up to four players will be able to join in the action either locally or through Xbox Live.
One of the things we did notice in the press release is the date. It seems someone leaked out the news prematurely because the post is dated “May 14, 2007”, when today’s just May 11 or 12 (depending on your location). We’ll be keeping our eye out for more information on the title, but for now, enjoy the promise of gaming freebies in the near future.
