Yet Another (!) Top Ten List For Apple
Seems like Apple just lends itself to these “Top Ten” lists. Today’s is called “The Ten Most Beautiful OS 10 Applications,” courtesy of Phil Ryu. Although whether this is “beautiful” in the aesthetic sense or just “beautiful” in their ease of use and overall utility, we’re not sure. It’s all in the eye of the beholder.

#9: VOICE CANDY
Another P2P application. An “extremely fun” voice recording and filtering toy from Potion Factory.
#8: PODCAST MAKER
Be your own broadcast station with this one. Allows anyone to create and upload their own podcasts.
#7: TRANSMIT
An old favorite for file transfer protocols under OS 9, here is the OS X version. This packs a lot of features and functions into a nice, compact Aqua window.
#6: QUINN
A shareware game, similar to Tetris. Oh – it is Tetris…definitely slicker-looking than the original, though. Also includes very cool radar-type interface and smooth animations.
#5: APP ZAPPER
Old applications tend to accumulate on your hard drive, get forgotten, take up space…find them easily and “zap” them away with this neat little freeware application. (It also finds related files in your System Folder.)
#4: ACQUISITION
With a “surprisingly spare and aesthetically pleasing user interface,” this is an ideal way to keep track of media downloads.
#3: COVERFLOW
This fixes a problem suffered by many modern music jukebox applications, providing visual navigation and a preview of album art. A nice way to browse through your music collection.
#2: NEWSFIRE
A popular RSS feed reader with an “obsessively polished” user interface.
#1: DELICIOUS LIBRARY
Number one is probably the most successful shareware launches in Apple history, even at $40. Why? Take a good look at the user interface design.
