Yet Another Xbox 360 Lawsuit

Lucent, the networking giant, is claiming that Microsoft is in breach of a patent. The patent in question is patent number 5,227,878 named “Adaptive Coding and Decoding of Frames and Fields of Video.” This is a patent from 1993. This patent was actually breached previously by Microsoft, but they got off due to a typo in the patent. Now, Microsoft is again ticking off Lucent and Lucent is fighting back. The Xbox 360 is alleged to have MPEG-2 technology which is in violation of the patent. A jury trial is being called.
