Yoshida: LittleBigPlanet to be PS3’s biggest release this year
LittleBigPlanet is out to dominate the gaming world — and that includes the ever-picky Japanese market. Who adds in his vote of confidence to Media Molecule‘s cute little sackers? Sony‘s worldwide boss, that’s who.
They’re coming and Sony‘s confident. LittleBigPlanet of Media Molecule has been tagged by no less than Sony worldwide studio boss, Shuhei Yoshida, as the biggest PS3 game to hit store shelves this year.
And that’s on a global scale, that’s right. “History tells us how difficult it is for games developed in Europe or in the US to be successful in Japan, and with this generation we see Japanese consumer supporting more and more games coming from western Europe.”
Looks like LittleBigPlanet really is meant to make its mark in gaming history. It’s not only because it’ll be the biggest game, but also because it will push the envelop with the way games are being developed, and how gamers play.
Continues Yoshida,
That really shows the way the whole industry will be heading. Giving power to the consumers to express their creativity by creating something that’s fun for others to play. So we really want to make it a global success, including the Japanese market.
We’ll see how big a splash it really will make when it does come out next month. Although we’re not doubting there will be some major splashing to be had.
