You can’t go wrong with GameStop Wii kiosks
If you live near a GameStop, now’s a good time to pray your store is one of the well-connected ones. GameStop’s given confirmation that they’ll be having demo kiosks for the Nintendo Wii in some of their stores.
Originally, the GameStop conference in Texas told managers that they would be the only place that had Wii demo kiosks at launch. According to a Gamespot report (funny how their names are so similar), however, they’ve confirmed what was earlier mentioned about the chain having demo kiosks, but not in relation to being the only retailers with the said kiosks.
A GameStop spokesperson said that the kiosks would be arriving mid-November. Given the November 19 launch date for the Wii, though, they’re really intending to tease consumers into picking up units.
Confusing, isn’t it? Well, it’s definitely damage control and proper PR positioning in preparation for launch. They did a similar spin with news of PS3 pre-orders, giving making no commitments as to whether they’d be offering pre-orders but inviting people to sign up for information updates on their website. Whether or not you get a console in the coming months, you can bet that GameStop’s online shop is going to get some loving from gamers, at the very least.
