UK-based game start up company YoYo Games has announced a new development competition that aims to put beginning and independent developers in the limelight. Winners of the contest will be receiving a total of US$ 1,750.
YoYo Games began its operations back in May 2007 and is currently home to more or less 12,000 free games. It provides the Game Maker software to developers which in turn provide them with user-generated content.
Project submission will end on April 27 and winners will be announced shortly afterwards. The company’s CEO Sandy Duncan had this to say:
WeÂ’re really very excited about the next competition. The originality and depth of gameplay achieved by the developers for the winter competition games demonstrates the power of GML as a language for online casual gaming, and suggests our community formula is already starting to pay off.
We see this next competition as an opportunity for the community to flex their programming muscles.
