Zelda: Phantom Hourglass to be Fully Touchscreen Enabled

In IGN’s newest DS Mailbag, an interesting observation was made regarding Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

Letter: Well I think itÂ’s obvious from the trailer that Phantom Hourglass is controlled with the touchscreen, from linkÂ’s movement to throwing the boomerang, it seems to be all touch enabled, shown ingame through the fairy. One thing that I canÂ’t tell though is if swinging your sword is touch enabled, or if you just use the buttons instead? It certainly seems touch enabled when heÂ’s fighting the squidÂ… He sorta pulls back the fairy and then pushes it back at the enemy, kinda like a stabbing motionÂ…

Craig IGN: YouÂ’re not the only one to notice this. Way to go, Bozon. Way to disappoint the kiddies. Pretty interesting stuff I say.

This could be an interesting way of playing, but it’s almost sure to be an annoyance to the purists who were hoping their classic games would be untouched (pun unintended). I’m personally wary about this. I was hoping for an old-school Zelda experience with upgraded graphics with a Wind Walker theme. What do you guys think?
