Zooming onto TV screens: Forza Motorsport Showdown
Live action racing has probably never been as interesting as the cartoon versions. “Wacky Racers” was a fun and admittedly exciting series to watch as a kid, and so have the numerous versions of “Speed Racer” over the years. If cars are your thing, fellow gamer, then you’re really going to love this bit of news.
As a seeming first for live-action promotional material, there’s going to be a cable TV show based on Microsoft‘s Forza Motorsport 2.
You read that right. The SPEED cable television network made an announcement recently about an upcoming show they would be broadcasting, with the show being based on Forza Motorsport 2. Currently titled “Forza Motorsport Showdown”, it will be a four-episode live-action series for SPEED.
The premise? SPEED’s website puts it like this:
Each episode follows a diverse group of racers through a rigorous roster of competitive motor sports disciplines – drifting, road racing, autocross and drag racing – in a $100,000 winner-take-all format. Forza Motorsport Showdown, inspired by the realism of the on-line, multi-player vehicle customization and tuning features within the game, puts contestants to the ultimate test of high-performance driving and mechanical skills.
As you can probably tell, expect to see real high-performance cars hitting the streets and a couple of lucky drivers who’ve picked up the opportunity to race those mean machines, all for a hefty sum of cash. Meanwhile, you’ll have to wait for February 2007 to roll on by, as it’s scheduled to premiere then.
