bhv Software launches new games label and Ankh: Heart of Osiris

German version of the Ankh Logo - Image 1bhv Software GmbH & Co.KG in Germany has just launched a new game label, XIDER. Under this new label they are releasing the sequel to Ankh.

Ankh: Heart of Osiris, the third iteration of the series, is being developed by Deck13 – the developer of the previous Ankh. Fans of the previous game have been clamoring for this and bhv, through XIDER, has delivered.

If you haven’t played the first game, the game is reminiscent of LucasArts adventure games that used the SCUMM engine. It’s a point and click affair with multiple puzzles that you have to solve.

In the previous game, our protagonist Assil rid himself of the death curse and was able to obtain the Ankh from Osiris (whom they portrayed as an evil Egyptian god). Assil inadvertently loses the Ankh in the backstreets of Cairo and now has to get it back before Osiris gets it back and launches his evil plan. The third game will start from there.

XIDER however is not just releasing this game. They have other games lined up for release within this year (prices are in UK pounds sterling and the approximate US dollar conversion):

  • Bone: Out from Boneville (PC) – Due date March 2007 (£19.99) (about $38)
  • Bone: The Great Cow Race (PC) – Due date March 2007 (£19.99) (about $38)
  • German Street Racing (PC) – Due date April 2007 (£9.99) (about $19)
  • Luminator DS – Due date May 2007 (£29.99) (about $58)
  • World of Chaos – Due date May 2007 (£19.99) (about $38)
  • European Street Racing – Due date May 2007 (£19.99) (about $ 8)
  • Ankh 1 (DS) – Due date August 2007 (£29.99) (about $58)
  • Basketball Manager 2008 (PC) – Due date August 2007 (£19.99) (about $38)

While it looks promising for this young label and its first release, we here at QJ are waiting to see how people will take to this venture by bhv. Ankh: Heart of Osiris will be available in the UK for £19.99 (about 38 US dollars) on April 27, 2007.
