Were you able to watch the fan-made Legend of Zelda film, “The Hero of Time” over at the Internet? If you did, good for you. If you didn’t, well, sorry to say but you missed your chance. Nintendo has now asked for the video to be taken down.

The creators, for their part, did agree to Nintendo’s request, only asking that they be allowed to run the film until the end of the year 2009. In their blog, they wrote, “We understand Nintendo’s right to protect its characters and trademarks and understand how in order to keep their property unspoiled by fan’s interpretation of the franchise, Nintendo needs to protect itself – even from fan-works with good intentions.”

At least this one blew over rather smoothly. No lawsuits, no settlements, just good ol’ peaceful compromise. The creators insist that they have “a real sense of peace bringing the project to a close.” Guess they really just wanted to spread the cheer, and since they were able to do that, it was mission accomplished for them.

To those who didn’t catch the film, you’ll just have to settle for this movie trailer.
