Gamewatch Laboratory Tests Slipon Socks for the DS Lite

Gamewatch does another study of gaming accessories for us. And this time, they look into the array of DS Lite protective cases. For their study, they looked at the Lite Slipon Socks and the Lite Slipon like Leather. These two cases are just two basic cases that most people buy to cover their DS Lite. Gamewatch puts the two to the test and they said, leather isn’t always good.

In their pinching test, wherein they pinch the ends of the cases, it appears that the slip-on socks is sturdier than the leather one. The leather one is actually flimpsy. They also did a washing machine test and there was no deterioration found in the slip-on socks, compared to the leather one. Although, they did note that the Lite Slipon socks was a little too snug for the DS Lite, but all in all they said that it was a good thing because it has such a perfect fit that there’s little chance for scratches on the DS. More so, the socks are so snug that not even chili can penetrate through the fabric. In comparison to the Lite Slipon leather, there seems to be a small allowance in the fabric, hence there’s room for the DS Lite to get scratch through scathing the material of the cover itself.

In the end, they said that this kind of casing is recommended only if you are storing it along with your things in a bag. They are slim and not bulky. Definitely for those who want their DS with them, wherever they go. However, if you think that socks are not the thing for you and you want a sturdier case, Gamewatch recommends to get hard cases that even if you open it wide, your DS Lite wouldn’t even fall of the case. Now that’s what I’d call tough protection.
