New Info For Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles

Resident Evil

In the mood for some zombie goodness? If you are, then we have some good news for you. Today we have the lowdown on Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii.

First of all, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles consists of four “chapters” with each chapter showcasing the areas found in previous incarnations of the game: RE1’s mansion, RE2’s RPD, RE3’s city areas, and RE4’s village and surrounding areas.

For each chapter, you have 2 characters to choose from. RE1 has Jill and Chris, RE2 has Leon and Claire, RE3 has Jill and Carlos, and RE4 has Leon and Ada. Additional characters like Rebecca Chambers, Hunk, and Albert Wesker can also be unlocked as you play through the game. Also, each character will have their own strengths and weaknesses.

The gameplay is designed around RE4’s. Pressing on the Wiimote‘s B trigger will change the perspective to the over-the-shoulder view. Aiming is done with the pointer and the A button is for firing. The game will have QTEs, but rather than push buttons you have to make motions with the Wiimote in order to get through them.

All characters will have melee attacks and each of them will have a unique weapon set. Each character can only carry 2 weapons at any time. The chapters are littered with weapons, and any new ones you find will be made available for use in arcade mode after you clear the chapter you found them in.

Arcade mode is like a giant Mercenaries mini-game. There’s no story or puzzles to get in the way, and all you have to do is choose a character and proceed to make things go “Boom!”. Scenario mode, on the other hand, will feature a lot of cutscenes, and new content not found in the previous games that the chapters are based on will be added.

A trailer for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles is set to be shown at the Tokyo Game Show, so look forward to that.
