Phil Harrison: Price cut timing not important, Epic to take advantage of PS3’s hardware

Sony’s showing at E3 was undeniably breathtaking for everyone, especially gamers who’ve been aching for anything Killzone 2 or Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. The guys over at Gametrailers were able to have a word with Phil Harrison, and he is definitely nothing less than satisfied.

Asked what Sony‘s explosive conference was all about, Harrison pointed at the games and the deep message of what’s coming to all PlayStation platforms. Regarding the announcement of a price cut before E3, he doesn’t see the timing as significant as the ultimate goal of stimulating demand and enlarging the installed user base.

When asked about the reason behind signing with Epic Games to deliver Unreal Engine 3 to the PlayStation 3, Harrison said it’s not about Epic’s success on the Xbox 360 but more of helping out to fine tune the engine using the advantages Sony’s hardware has to offer.
