I’ve seen some pretty wild mods before – I’m still not over the Haier/PSP crossbreed – but this latest one from alien_x bowls me over. Basically he dissected a PSP and arranged its innards on a sheet of plexiglas. Here’s how alien_x described it:

I disassembled a PSP, Screwed down the Motherboard, wifi board and a Hacked Up LCD Cage onto an A3 sheet of plexi. Then I proceeded to piggyback the following control points:

  • DPAD
  • Power Switch
  • Hold Switch
  • X circle, Triangle, Square
  • Wifi Switch
  • MSPD
  • Serial Port
  • Backlight
  • Analog Stick
  • LCD
  • Triggers
  • USB
  • And I think There were some other Things, That I cannot remember at the moment.

The mod is controlled using a modified PS2 controller, but alien_x says that an array of tactile switches can be put in if the need arises. A UMD drive can also be added if necessary. It’s a great mod, especially for other modders who can refer back to it like an anatomy chart of the PSP.

The mod will be for sale in the near future. It actually looks like a work of art, beautiful in an Andy Warhol or Picasso kind of way. In fact it’d have a special place on my living room wall to show off to guests if I was the lucky guy who got a hold of it.
