Qimonda Preferred Supplier of GDDR3 RAM for Xbox 360
Microsoft has selected Qimonda AG as a preferred, comprehensive supplier of graphics RAM for the Xbox 360. Qimonda will start supplying a substantial number of 512Mbit Graphic Double Data Rate 3 (GDDR3) RAM to Microsoft. In the Xbox 360, each of the eight GDDR3 16Mbit x 32 components used operates at a rated clock speed to achieve data bandwidth of up to 44.8Gbit/s per memory device.
Carved out of Infineon Technologies AG, Qimonda is a leading supplier of highly advanced memory products. Its capabilities to design and deliver memory products in large volume were the deciding factors in Microsoft’s selection of a strategic partner for the Xbox 360.
