Nintendo Wii kicks major buttNintendo Wii units went flying out of the stores in Japan during last year’s holiday season to the hands of eager consumers. The console sold like ricecakes with 989,118 units between December 2 and January 7 being gobbled up by Japanese shoppers.

Meanwhile, the PlayStation 3 sold 466,716 units since its release in the territory last November 11. Enterbrain hasn’t released figures for the XBox 360 but last month’s Media Create figures indicate that sales got a boost after the platform exclusive Blue Dragon was released.
