3rd party Wii component cables to the rescue
The PS3’s not alone in eBay-resale profits mania. While Nintendo has promised – and more or less delivered – a good supply of Wiis to hungry customers, component cables are another story entirely. And when Engadget reports that the shortage’s so bad that the normally two-dollar (cost, not retail) part fetches upwards of ONE HUNDRED MEEELION DOLLARS (that’s US$ 100.00 for those who don’t get sarcasm) on eBay, you now know that profiteering from shortage isn’t exclusive to Sony products.
Okay, so here comes Blaze (a 3rd party manufacturer, not the Ace Combat 5 fighter pilot) to save the day with 3rd party component cables for the Wii. The price? US$ 6.71 (dunno about shipping and handling) from Superfo.com, the same folks who’s retailed to the world the Wiimote Skid-Proof Glove.
Problem is, Superfo doesn’t get their stocks until the end of the month, either. And with other parts of the world deprived of the “p” in 480p, you can bet there’ll be a mad scramble for the online shop door when stocks do arrive.
Sigh. The component cables really do make a difference, presuming there’s an ample supply.
