IGN has reported sightings of point of sales posters announcing that Australia will be getting the new 80GB PlayStation 3 SKU for AUD 699 (US$ 612), the same as the 40GB PS3.
According to retailers, the new SKU will hit on August 28. Official confirmation about the price and date have yet to be released, as Sony told IGN that neither price nor date for the 80GB SKU have yet been set.
While at this point this is still just a wee bit more than a rumor, the date does tie in with the SKU’s August 27 European release as well s the previously announced August US release. Here’s hoping that the bundle includes a DualShock 3 controller as well. Keep checking back here for more updates.
