Itagaki Talks About DOA: X2, Next-Gen Consoles and More

DOA: X2The great Tomonobu Itagaki, in a recent interview, reiterated that Dead or Alive: Extreme 2 is a very serious project and not just a shameless attempt to exploit the women of the original versus game franchise Dead or Alive. It may sound ironic, but Itagaki seriously wants this rendition to be fun.

“A game like this is intended for someone who wants to play and relax by themselves, and have a good time,” shares character designer Itagaki. This is why, he further added, he spent so much time together with developer Tecmo in making DOA: X2 and the characters in it look as vivid as possible. He then expresses disappointment and bewilderment to other games’ seeming lack of artistic sense.

Later in the interview, Itagaki tried comparing the three next-gen consoles. We could say that he treaded the line very carefully as he outlined both strengths and weaknesses of X360, PS3 and Wii. Although, it is safe to say that he somehow favors the Microsoft console a bit as he is already familiar with its engine.

Finally, he then confirmed that Team Ninja of Tecmo is indeed working on a Ninja Gaiden title. Focus will be shifted there, according to him, after the release of DOA: X2 this year.
