The Saga of Ryzom: Ryzom Ring Puts Power In Players’ Hands
The Saga of Ryzom has been creating a loud buzz lately with the impending release of its expansion pack, Ryzom Ring. What makes this expansion unique from other MMOs is that it puts power in the hands of the player. And we all know that in the massive MMO universe, power could spell the difference between winning and losing.
It does sound intriguing because we would normally view expansion packs as additional ammo in the game arsenal. Pretty much like extra options for customizations. But in Ryzom Ring, that’s not really the case. In an interview with MMORPG.com, Nevrax‘s Milko Berset talked about Ryzom Ring and even showed off its intuitive user interface. That alone would pique the interest of gamers. Let’s face it, a clunky toolset is a big turn off when it comes to MMO.
Ryzom Ring is said to have 200 different maps, where each serves as an entry point for the characters. What makes this great is that players have the option to select the season and the weather-type. This would come in handy when you need a certain weather type for your undertaking. It does set the mood for gameplay as well.
And just when you thought your God-like abilities are limited, the expansion gives you a multitude of options when placing NPCs or monsters in different settings. That’s on top of the “design” options presented to you when populating the world. Best of all, everything is done without hitches. It’s said to be a very intelligent program.
After a player is done creating a world of his own, he can play an active role in the way the adventure plays out via the “Dungeon Master Mode”. This just means the creator can inhabit NPCs and monsters. What’s more, he can make on-the-fly changes and decisions even while in the middle of the quest.
With massive options and user-friendly interface, we wouldn’t be surprised if Ryzom Ring becomes a hit with MMO fans.
