Today appears to be quite a busy day for the homebrew scene and we have yet another big release. Emulation coding machine Zx-81 presents us with another one of his emulator updates. This time it’s for PSPMSX, a Zx-81 emulator that we haven’t heard from since June when v1.0.5 was released. Zx-81’s PSPMSX is an MSX emulator for the PSP that originated from fMSX, a famous emulator of the MSX, MSX2, and MSX2+ 8bit home computers for Windows and Unix systems. Can’t wait for the changelog? Here it is:
- Icons and background images designed by Malkster
- Emulator menus reorganization (new menu for settings)
- Multiple keyboard mappings feature developed by Pou-chan : You can now toggle between 3 different keyboard mapping using LTrigger and RTrigger keys
- Add keyboard change skin option: You can add your own virtual keyboard images in the graphics directory.
- New speed limiter (more accurate)
- New feature to save and load a distinct setting file for each games
- Delete files option (in the file selector)
- Screenshots are now saved in PNG format instead of BMP
- The percent of battery left is now displayed in the emulator window
- Added a watchdog to automatically return to the emulator menu when the battery is very low (< 5%)
- Bug fix and code cleaning
Zx-81 would like to thank Malkster and Pou-Chan for their help with this release which will be a corker for MSX fans. Zx has also included the source code with the download if any aspiring developers would like to take a shot at coding themselves.
