E.T. had it coming: Invasion
In light of all the games of defending our Earth from extraterrestrial hostility (e.g. Space Invaders, Galaga, Winx), this time around, you get to play the poor little alien and try to defend yourself from the evil terror of the mammalians’ military forces. They’re out to get you, and it’s going to be survival.
RobotDawn steps up with their homebrew game Invasion, and it’s looking like what any good “space invader” game should be. You control a UFO and, using the stylus, destroy as many heat-seeking missiles as possible. Pressing any button or direction on the d-pad will fire shock waves, and the start button allows you to pause the game. You can also choose what kind of background music you want by tapping the speaker icon on the main menu.
Evidently, this is one homebrew game that speaks well of the effort put into it. You might get turned off because it’s mostly monochromatic, but we think it has that certain appeal as much as space invader b-movies from the 70s are such a classic. The graphics are well done, and the music is appropriate for a techno-thriller of a game.
Is it addicting? We’ll leave that for you to find out for yourself.
