This week’s LOTRo Beta journal: Cooks of Middle-Earth unite!
This week’s LOTRo Beta Journal (the one on the game’s official page), features the closed beta’s recent call for the game’s players to show off their elite crafting skills in a massive crafting festival.
The event seemed to be a crash test to see how large number of players crafting at the same time will affect the game. The journal notes:
A small icon appeared in the corner of the screen to warn me that my gameplay might be impacted due to high server load. Other than the initial stutter and the warning icon, I hardly noticed a problem with upwards of sixty characters being on screen at once. Impressive!
It’s interesting to note that due to the large numbers of cooks and crafters in the event, the demand on vendors was enough to cause any one vendor to run out of town screaming.
The journal claims that the event was a big success and that despite the unified efforts of the the cooks of Middle-Earth, the world did not fall into utter darkness. Hey, at least they’re not a bunch of poets trying to out-do each other.
