RUMOR: New Wiimote model in production?

We reported about the new Wiimote straps yesterday. But could it be possible that with these new straps a new Wiimote could also enter the scene? According to a rumor that first appeared in the Japanese magazine, Game Lab, Nintendo is allegedly already hard at work in making a new Wiimote.

This won’t make your trusty controller obsolete, so don’t go throwing it on a television or something. Apparently, the Game Lab rumor said that this new version will be sporting a better grip and will come with a rechargeable battery – two changes that are entirely possible to do.

Nintendo has apparently denied the said rumor, but that doesn’t stop tongues from wagging like crazy. So with that, we leave the deciding up to you. Do you think this is nothing but a fake or do you think that it has a tinge of truth in it?
