The Burning Crusade wows critics

The Burning Crusade - Image 1Despite the previous belief that The Burning Crusade‘s release would bring about server crashes, overpopulation and lag, the critics have done a 360 after trying it out themselves. They now have nothing but raves over the expansion as it gets an average of 90% in its game reviews.

It certainly isn’t a surprise for Blizzard‘s eight million players, perhaps it’s just that they’re impressed with how TBC surpassed expectations. The thing is, TBC may not be perfect but the pros outweighed the cons enough to make both the hardcore and casual players appreciate it.

The pros: The new areas are beautiful and perfectly executed. Everything blends perfectly that even the sound effects and quests meld together. New characters (for both new players and old ones) are available and the Horde at last gets a cool-looking character. Plus jewelcrafting is a fun enterprise.

The cons: Brainless ogres and liverless boars still abound as drop rates still are the RPG quest’s best cliche. Lag still exists but server crashes is an urban legend.

Gamepro’s Daphinicus sums it up:

The new locations, characters, items, and monsters are nothing short of awesome. The voice acting is perfect, the sound effects spot-on, and the score at times both ominous and uplifting. Quest dialog is well-written and does a wonderful job of pulling players into the ever-shifting story of the war. Put simply, everything just feels right.

So, critics may have to retract some of their pre-launch comments, but in the end, they were blown away by the richness of the new additions and the stability of WoW.
